Firstly if you have a subscription to Norton you may as well use it until it requires renewal. Spy bot is an excellent programme but you can also run Ad Aware alongside it. also free off the web. It will do no harm to run two anti spy ware products and one may pick up something the other misses. Also does your Norton have a firewall if yes then fine if not download Zone Alarm also free and an excellent programme. Finally when your Norton comes up for renewal don't bother remove it using add remove programmes and install AVG yet another free download.
