Is there any way to increase my AFQT score when I'm already in the service?

Hello, I'm currently in the Navy DEP, because I already got accepted to a college and registered for classes by the time I went to MEPS back in August 2010... I'm going to Navy basic training in August of this year.. I took ASVAB last year and got a score of 54. I did well on mathematics (AR and MK) but did really terrible on reading and English section (PC and WK) because I'm ESL. It's just a terrible disadvantage I have when I take these kinds of tests. (my first language is Japanese) I'll join as E-3 (I was in jrotc for 4 years), and ended up with SH rating, I know the job is not that great but I picked it anyways so I can get into the Navy. I'm qualified for very limited amount of jobs because I'm not US citizen yet.... I'm planning to work on my US citizenship while in Navy and get security clearance, so I could get more interesting, better jobs in FUTURE.. possibly get some technical jobs that I really want... And here's my question. Is it possible to improve my scores on literacy section or any part of the test to increase my AFQT score in while I'm already in Navy and working? Or possibly retake the whole ASVAB test when I'm already working for Navy? .... or ANY WAYS to raise my AFQT score? I'm really concerned and worried about my so-so, not so great AFQT score. I want answers from people who knows exactly what I'm talking about... Thank you very much Sincerely, Future Sailor Tanner ;)

lol of course you did very well on the mathmatics portion and horrible in the english one.....hehehe asians.......

Alienware is out of the picture. The price per performance that you get from the HP and Dell are far better. The Dell does have SSD but are you so much of an enthusiast to see the improvement? With 128GB of storage space the average person would likely take only a few months to fill it up. Considering Windows 7 alone takes up about 25GB already. You wont see too much of a difference between the Dell's GTX260 and the HP's GT230. The HP has a bigger and better screen so if you want to watch movies that would be better. HP also includes Blu-Ray which is $100 over the standard DVD burner price tag anyways. I would choose the HP over the Dell based on the screen + blu-ray alone but thats just my preference. HP or Dell choice is up to you. The only thing going for the Dell is the SSD which is probably not a top of the line SSD either so you're looking at failures within a few years. I purchased an Asus G73JH-A1 with relatively the same specs as the HP but with better graphics card and 17.3 inch screen, 8GB RAM, 2x 500GB hard drives for $1700 USD. Protecting Your Computer From Security Threats

With all the great information and tools that the Internet can offer, it is also important to realize that it can be a landmine of potential harm as well. Because some small percentage of destructive people have malicious intentions, they make the Internet relatively unsafe for your computer and your personal information. That is why it is vital to protect your computer from cyber threats such as "worms" that can damage your computer programs and those of people in your email address book, viruses that can wipe out your data in a matter of minutes, and spyware that does exactly as it states by spying on your computer activities and personal information on it.

One means of protecting yourself is through programs that protect your computer and its data. One in particular is making some noise as an excellent addition to Norton and some of the other well-known security software. It is called PC Security Test and offers a different method of protecting your computer. This software actually simulates an attack against your computer so it can verify the efficiency your current protection offers in warding off attacks. PC Security Test is a free program that helps you understand the degree of safety your computer actually has to guard itself against worms and viruses.

Check out the PC Security Test site (pc-st dot com) to learn more and download a copy for your computer. This program should be used with your normal security scanning software such as your firewall, anti-virus, and anti-spyware programs.

Most new computers are actually protected well against viruses and Trojans, but many are not protected against spyware. This is why you need an updated anti-spyware program so that when you have spyware on your computer it can be promptly removed. Along with the test that PC Security Test offers, you should find out how much more protection you may need to keep the threats on the Internet exactly where they are.

This is especially important if you use Microsoft Internet Explore (IE), which is an open target because it is the most commonly used browser. Programs that open in IE are the most vulnerable to spyware and viruses because some of these threats attach themselves to IE and create hassles that are difficult to eliminate. If any of this sounds like your sad experience, make sure you take the time to try PC Security Test to see how well it protects you.

Can someone edit my process essay? I think it's fine but i need it edited, mandatory?

Omar Cumberbatch English 3 Latimer Process Essay What about Firewalls? "Identity Theft is one of the fastest growing modern day crimes and can "cripple" the affected individual. Larry George explained in "Pc Security, Startling Facts!" on b2barticles.com. In modern day times, internet security is as important as the secret service is to the president. It just has to be done. To properly keep your information out of the wrong hands you need a properly configured firewall. I am going to help you set up a firewall so your information is harder to be compromised by internet hackers on the internet. This process essay can be of major help to ensuring your internet security. What is a firewall you may wonder? A firewall is essentially a system that controls access between one or more networks. The main role of a firewall is to either block or permit access. If you don't know what to block or allow then a firewall might not help you like you think it might. You have to tell it what to enforce, whether that maybe be blocking all type of processes except for email and instant messaging. If you set your firewall on a default level, because you don't know how to configure it then your not using the firewall to the best of it's ability but some protection is better than no protection. I already mentioned what a firewall is but there are two types. Software and hardware firewalls. Software firewalls are software you install on your operating system to further protect your computers network. On the other hand a hardware firewall is essentially a stand alone product, for example, a broadband router that uses tools such as packet filtering to test the source and destination of where the information is coming from. The best tools for internet security is to have both software and internet firewalls, having an up to date operating will allow the both the firewalls to work more efficiently. I held of on explaining how to set a firewall up because it is relatively easy to do so. To do so you have click the Start Menu, then click on Control Panel, then click on Security (that can be found at the bottom right corner). After you click that icon, it will take you to the Windows Security Center. You can choose to either to put on the firewall or you can not have it on. If you choose not to let it on you will have your computer readily available to viruses and intruders. Once you put it on you can go to the Exceptions tab and you can allow or deny programs that the firewall choose to on the default setting. If you are more experienced with this process you can go to the Advanced tab and change certain settings your firewall has in place. As you can see setting up a firewall isn't that hard. The only hard part is for the hackers that can't get access to your at home network. Businesses aren't the only people concerned with protecting their identity and private information on the world wide web, now a days. To further protect yourself against intruders install virus and spyware software because sometimes a firewall may not be enough protection. This is the time to have a properly configured firewall, running on a up to date operating system with virus and spyware protection programs because there are over 900 new viruses created each and every month.

Do you need it edited for accuracy or for grammar and style? I've only read the first paragraph, but if you want quotes around "cripple," they need to be single quotes, since that quote is nested inside a double quote quotation. I don't think you do need quotes around "cripple;" I don't think it's such a strange usage that readers need it pointed out that you're not being literal. "It just has to be done," needs to be removed. It's unnecessary, and there's no action for it to refer to. "Internet security," isn't an action that "has to be done." "Internet security," is a thing. You could say it, "has to be considered," if you want. bkedits.com

Question about wireless CNet router?

I recently purchased a wireless CNet router. The instructions must have been written in China, because the English is poor and nothing is explained very well. I have my computer and my PS3 plugged into the back of the wireless router (I have no idea how to connect to it wirelessly from either). The instructions never told me how to do that. My internet connection has been very slow, and somewhat intermittent since installing the router. Does anyone have any idea how I can connect wirelessly (if that will make the internet connection faster)? Ive tested the modem connected directly into the PC, and it works just fine. The problem seems to be with the router, but I do not know what to do? Also, I have no idea how to set the security (since the instructions do not tell me how to do this either)? It simply says "Set security." Can someone help me, or point me to a page that would tell me what steps I need to take to connect my computer and PS3 wirelessly, and set up security? Also, would connecting wirelessly make my internet connection faster, without the periodic annoying "This page cannot be found" messages?

I prefer not to buy no-name routers precisely for this reason. If I were you I would get a good Linksys WRT54G router and that would solve all your problems. In order to use them wirelessly, you will need usb wireless adapters. If you want to try using the wireless router that you currently have, open up a command prompt and type ipconfig and hit enter. Find the line that says "gateway" or "default gateway" and then open up your web browser and type this ip address into url (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or similar). This should get prompt you for a user name and password (usually user:admin and password:password) which will get you into a configuration page for the router where you can setup security etc.
